In Sanskrit it is termed as Trinvar, Tapomani, Rahu Ratna, Swar Bhanu, Peet Ratna, Gomed and Ratan Gomedak. In Urdu it is known as Jerkunia or Jargun. In Bengali Lohitmani, in Gujarati Gomutrajambu, in Marathi Gomedmani and as Hajaraymani in Arbi language whereas in Burma it is known as Gomok. In China it is termed as Peeci.
