The Vedas are the oldest religious scriptures of Hinduism. There are six auxiliary disciplines of Hinduism that developed in ancient times and have been connected with the study of the Vedas called the Vedangas. The six Vedangas are Siksha, Chhanda, Vyakarana, Nirukta, Jyotisha and Kalpa. These subjects were an integral and essential part of ancient vedic education system, aimed to promote an all round development of the students with a better understanding of the Vedas and Vedic practices. The Vedanga Jyotisha is one of the earliest texts about astronomy within the Vedas.
This auxiliary Vedic discipline (focused on time keeping) Jyotisha or Jyotishya (from Sanskrit jyotiṣa, from jyót “light, heavenly body") is the traditional Hindu system of astrology, also known as Hindu astrology, Indian astrology and Vedic astrology. Jyotisha (jyotiṣa or Jyotish) talks about and may tell about right time for religious rituals with the help of position of nakshatras and asterisms and astronomy. Astrology predicts information about human affairs and terrestrial events by studying the apparent positions of celestial objects. Consult Astrologer Expert:
